Significance: architecture, culture, history Landmark designation: | National Register | Limestone Springs Historic District (1986); Winnie Davis Hall (1977) | Narrative: see below References: see below | Narrative: This building is the centerpiece of the Limestone College campus and one of the true architectural gems in the state of South Carolina. Completed in 1903, Winnie Davis Hall was named in honor of Varina Anne Davis (1864-1898), the youngest daughter of Jefferson Davis. The building features ornate arched windows, an octagonal tower with skylight, and a double staircase in the entry foyer. A fine example of the Gothic Revival style, Winnie Davis is a two story building with a central crenellated tower, a projecting central bay with gable, and grouped lacet windows. The building is scheduled for renovation for use as a museum and as the college archives. The building will also house classrooms and faculty offices. | References: | | I.
