Narrative:
The Central Heating Plant is infrequently used today. When initially constructed, it was a major advancement for the college and proved to be a feature that attracted students to the college. Relatively few colleges or businesses of any type could boast of comparable heat and electricity generating facilities during that time. The smokestack with "Lane" built vertically into the brickwork still dominates the skyline in the area.
