Narrative: The metamorphosis of this building is important since it served originally as the Naismith Hall of Fame Building from February 1968 through June 1985. This building was a significant milestone in the world of sports. Never before had basketball had a home to house the greats of the game. When the doors to the hall of fame opened on that wintry morning, on the campus of Springfield College, a shrine dedicated to the elite of the game of basketball had become a reality. After the "Hall" moved to a new location in 1985, the college was met with increasing demands for the professionals in the Allied Health Professions. It was then that the building underwent an ambitious expansion and renovation project: the transformation of the former Naismith Basketball Hall of Fame into the Allied Health Science Center. This modernized facility is now the center for integrated instruction, research, and community service. The completion of this rehab was in September of 1988.
