Narrative:
St. George Hall was originally a single family home but has undergone a number of interior renovations to accommodate the Sister residents and the needs of the two departments it presently serves. On the exterior, a fire escape has been attached and some of the original windows have been replaced with heat-efficient ones, given the cold winters in Maine.

The Sisters of Mercy sponsor Saint Joseph's College and have held major positions within the College since its beginning in 1912. When the College moved from Portland, Maine to its present location in Standish, Coolock House, later named St. George Hall, served as their residence until it was recently identified as the ideal place for functions attendant to Enrollment Management.
